January Update

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Years! Since graduating in December, I have begun (as of January 2nd, 2012) to work full time at CSF. We kicked off the year and the semester as a staff by taking a staff retreat to Gatlinburg. We worked hard while there to prepare ourselves for the upcoming semester.

Since I have now begun to be full time, my roles have switched around a bit. I'm am excited about some of the opportunities I have. Here are areas of the ministry that I currently work on:

  • Shift--Shift is one of the biggest areas of the ministry. Each week at 7 PM, we pack anywhere from 100-200 college Freshman in CSF to enjoy good food, meeting people and a short talk. It is the way we get freshman involved in the ministry and I am excited to take a leading role in allowing that to happen.
  • Core Groups--This is the real heart (or "core") of our ministry. I am the leader of about 7 of our student leaders, which entails a small group Bible study and accountability time each week. It is a way that we pour back into our leaders who pour into our ministry.
  • Core Group Curriculum Team--This is pretty self explanatory. We write the curriculum for the upcoming semester's core group. Last semester was the "Parables of Jesus" and reading the "Great Divorce" by CS Lewis. This semester, we are going to enter in to a very in depth study of the Gospel of Luke, in which we will read the entire book multiple times as well as studying particular parts in depth.
  • Pancakes--Another major part of our ministry, "Pancakes" is an area of the ministry that campus ministries all over the nation have adopted. We simply serve Free Pancakes EVERY FRIDAY at Midnight. We usually have well over 100 students from campus come and enjoy this fun atmosphere. The vision is that they keep coming back and keep meeting people involved in our ministry to get them plugged into smaller groups.
  • Prayer Ministry--We obviously want prayer to be at the center of everything we do. While I am taking less of a role in things like "prayer night" from last semester, I am still involved in working with the prayer team throughout the week.

Thank you all for your continued prayer and support!
